There are plenty of gentle walks in the rolling countryside around Little Pentre Farm. The Barn is located on a narrow lane which leads to a network of quiet country footpaths and similar lanes.

Bangor on Dee racecourse is 4 miles away. The town of Llangollen, with its internationally renowned Eistedffod, is 11 miles away and the historic walled Roman City of Chester is 20 miles away.

The pretty towns of Whitchurch and Oswestry are a short drive away.

Whitchurch was founded by the Romans and is a town that is well worth walking round. The Llangollen canal runs along the west of the town and about 1 mile away from the centre in Grindley Brook is a superb flight of staircase locks. The market runs on a Friday.

Oswestry, with its ancient castle earthworks, has been a magnet for trade from both sides of the border since the Middle Ages. The streets still come alive on market days (Wednesdays and Saturdays) and there is a good selection of independent shops and fine restaurants and pubs.

The village of Ellesmere, on the edge of the Mere – a magnificent natural lake formed at the end of the last Ice Age – is a haven for gentle walks and sightseeing.

The historic Shropshire county town of Shrewsbury, known as the finest Tudor town in England, is 22 miles away, sitting in a stunning situation on the River Severn. As well as excellent shopping facilities the town offers a magnificent flower show in August as well as may historic sites including Shrewsbury Abbey, founded in 1083.

There are plenty of other historic sites in the area including Chirk Castle, built 700 years ago by Edward I, and Whittington Castle, a 12th Century moated castle.

Trout or Salmon fishing is available during the season on the nearby River Dee.

A tennis court is available for use at any time in the nearby village of Overton or you could visit the North Wales Tennis Centre, a short drive away in Wrexham.
